Our Impact

See how community support becomes direct family assistance, service during treatment, awareness, and research support.

Practical care, close to home.

The Lindsey Ann Varney Foundation helps children facing cancer or another serious illness in West Virginia and Southern Virginia, while also assisting families affected by DIPG across the United States.

That work includes direct family assistance, meals during treatment, hospital and Ronald McDonald House service, a local memorial scholarship, and support for DIPG awareness and research.

Where community support goes

Help for families

Financial and practical assistance can ease some of the pressure families carry while a child is receiving treatment.

Comfort during treatment

Meals, toys, activities, and thoughtful support give children, siblings, and caregivers moments of comfort away from home.

Hope through research

DIPG awareness and research support carry Lindsey’s determination forward for children diagnosed after her.

Stories of care and advocacy.

These moments show what community support becomes when it reaches a family, a student, or a public conversation about DIPG.

Partners in family care and advocacy

The foundation works with hospitals, Ronald McDonald House Charities, local schools, businesses, and volunteers to meet needs no organization could carry alone.

A Wish Room for children and siblings

The foundation joined Chase Bank in helping Ronald McDonald House Southern West Virginia create and stock a Wish Room where young patients and siblings can choose toys, costumes, and activities during medical stays.

Service where families receive care

Foundation volunteers have assisted patients and families through St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, and Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Recognized in Memphis

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Memphis recognized the foundation among its 2024 Gift of Comfort supporters, continuing a connection to the city where Lindsey received care. See the annual report.

Community traditions that give back

Golf tournaments, fall festivals, remembrance gatherings, volunteer projects, and family events turn neighbors’ generosity into practical help and lasting hope.
